Denver College of Nursing Names McClintock New Undergraduate Program Chair

Denver College of Nursing (DCN) has named Megan McClintock as the nursing college’s new undergraduate program chair where she will oversee planning, organizing, directing and evaluating faculty, administrators and student outcomes and performance, said Dr. Marcia Bankirer, DCN president (www.denvercollegeofnursing.edu).
She will focus on faculty development, mentoring, streamlining of procedures and updating curriculum. With the student body, she will emphasize student development and academic success through test-taking tips, studying tips and NCLEX and HESI test preparation.

“Megan brings many strengths to this position, including her visionary leadership and her outstanding support of students and faculty,” Bankirer said. “In her three years at DCN, she has been a valuable bridge between students, faculty and administration.”

Most recently, McClintock was the recipient of DCN’s 2014 Outstanding Teaching Award, which recognized her use of creativity-based lectures, leadership, student-focused outcomes and open door policy.

Also, she has developed a website (www.pocketprofapps.com) to support nursing students across the world with simple explanations, testing tips and tutoring.

Prior to joining DCN, McClintock worked at Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma for 17 years. She began teaching at Redlands Community College in 2005. While there, she was tasked with the development and establishment of the college’s fully-functioning simulation lab. She later went on to found her own consultancy to enable educational systems to develop their own simulations labs.

A registered nurse since 1991, she holds her bachelor of science in nursing from Oklahoma Baptist University and her master of science in nursing education from the University of Oklahoma.
